Reading.
Butterflies are insects.  Just like all other insects, they have  three body parts (the head, thorax, abdomen), six jointed legs, two knobbed antennaes and compound eyes.  They also have four large wings that are normally covered by colored scales.  They also have a proboscis to suck or sip nectar from flowers.  The proboscis is like a long tongue.  Their bodies are covered by very tiny hairs.  Moths have more hair on their bodies as compared to the butterflies.  The hairs help them to feel the environment and get information when they are flying.

Butterflies and moths are classified under a group of insects called, Lepidoptera.  This is from the Latin words “lepido” for scale and “ptera” for wings but take note that there are some moths that do not have wings.  Notice the veins in the wings?  These veins supply nourishment or blood to the wings. The wings will become ragged and the colors fade as they age. Butterflies cannot fly if their body temperature is less than 86 degrees.  They need to warm themselves up in the sun in the cool weather.  Butterflies come out only during the day but are most active in the mornings.  They go out to warm themselves in the sun.

Commas with Salutations
Use a comma if the sentence starts with an address to someone.
Example: Greg, can I talk to you for a second?

Use a comma with salutations in private letters.
Example: Dear Francis,

Don’t use a comma with salutations in business letters. Use a colon in American English and no punctuation mark in British English.
Example:
 BE – Dear Mr Jefferson
 AE – Dear Mr. Jefferson:

Commas with Geographic Places
 Use a comma to separate parts of geographic places. The final comma is optional.
Example: Hollywood, Ireland(,) is not as famous as Hollywood, California.
Use a comma to separate parts of an address in a sentence.
Example: His address is 46 Baker Street, London, NW2 2LK, Great Britain.

                                                               Commas with Numbers
Use commas to separate off the thousands and millions in compound numbers.
Example: 3,460,759

Don’t use commas in decimals.
Example: $3.49

Use a comma before the year if the date is given as follows: month, day, year.
Example: April 16, 2003

Don’t use a comma if only two elements of the date are given (e.g. month and year).
Example: I was born in May 1972.

Write the numbers as figures and place the commas correctly.

Robyn and Lucy are members of their village’s Girl Scout troop. During weekends and some weekdays, they go around selling cookies in the neighborhood.
1.      They have a week before the month ends and they are doing their best to get a badge from selling cookies. Working overtime, Robyn sold 47 packs of cookies while Lucy sold 29. How many packs of cookies were they able to sell that day?
Answer: 47 + 29 = 76
Robyn and Lucy sold 76 cookies that day.
2.      Because of an upcoming exam, Robyn will not be able to sell cookies on Tuesday. To make up for it, Lucy decided to do double the work to catch up. She sold 34 cookies on her first round and 27 on her second round. How many cookies were sold by Lucy? Answer: 34 + 27 = 61
Lucy sold 61 cookies on that Tuesday.
3.      Still a little behind, Robyn asked her mother to drive them around town on Wednesday to cover more houses. That day Robyn sold 55 packs of cookies while Lucy sold 43. How many packs were they able to sell that day?
Answer: 55 + 43 = 98
They sold 98 packs of cookies that Wednesday.
